Πορτογαλία: η νέα «αποικία» της Αγκόλας

Τα μνημόνια και η τρόικα μετέτρεψαν την Πορτογαλία σε οικονομικό «προτεκτοράτο» μιας πρώην αποικίας της. Και ο Γερούν Ντάισελμπλουμ μαζί με τη Μέρκελ χειροκροτούν για το επίτευγμα της Ευρωπαϊκής Ενωσης.

Τα ρολόγια όλων έδειχναν 20 λεπτά μετά τα μεσάνυχτα. Σε λίγες ώρες θα ξημέρωνε η 25η Απριλίου του 1974. Δεκάδες αξιωματικοί του πορτογαλικού στρατού στέκονταν ανυπόμονοι μπροστά σε ένα ραδιόφωνο που μετέδιδε το πρόγραμμα του Ρ/Σ Rádio Renascença. Ξαφνικά ο σταθμός άρχισε να παίζει το τραγούδι «Ε depois do adeus», που εκείνη τη χρονιά είχε εκπροσωπήσει τη χώρα στον διαγωνισμό τραγουδιού της Eurovision. Ηταν το συνθηματικό που όλοι περίμεναν. Οι αξιωματικοί φόρεσαν τα πηλήκιά τους και έδωσαν διαταγή στους στρατιώτες τους να καταλάβουν νευραλγικά σημεία στις μεγαλύτερες πόλεις της χώρας. Το Κίνημα των Ενόπλων Δυνάμεων, που θα πυροδοτούσε την περίφημη Επανάσταση των Γαριφάλων, είχε μόλις εκδηλωθεί.

Αυτό που ελάχιστοι θυμούνται σήμερα, εκτός Πορτογαλίας, είναι ότι εκείνο το «πραξικόπημα», που έφερε τη δημοκρατία στην Πορτογαλία, ξέσπασε με αφορμή την έκρυθμη κατάσταση που επικρατούσε στις πορτογαλικές αποικίες. Οι αξιωματικοί ζητούσαν τον άμεσο τερματισμό των αιματηρών συγκρούσεων με τα μαρξιστικά, εθνικοαπελευθερωτικά κινήματα των αποικιών -ανάμεσα στις αποικίες ξεχώριζε πάντα η Αγκόλα. Το σύνθετο αριστερό αντάρτικο, το οποίο στη συνέχεια διασπάστηκε σε φιλοαμερικανικά και φιλοσοβιετικά στρατόπεδα και (με την παρέμβαση της CIA) βύθισε τη χώρα στον εμφύλιο, αποτελούσε το τελευταίο αγκάθι για τη Λισαβόνα.

Οι εποχές όμως αλλάζουν, όπως και οι άνθρωποι που τις ορίζουν. Ενας από τους μαοϊκούς φοιτητές της Επανάστασης των Γαριφάλων, ο Ζοζέ Μανουέλ Μπαρόζο (που τότε την «έβγαινε» από τα αριστερά στο Κομμουνιστικό Κόμμα Πορτογαλίας), έφερε την τρόικα και τα μνημόνια στη χώρα του. Οσο για την Αγκόλα, μετά το τέλος του εμφυλίου πολέμου, άρχισε να εκμεταλλεύεται τα πλούσια κοιτάσματα πετρελαίου και διαμαντιών και μέσα σε λίγα χρόνια δημιούργησε μια αρπακτική αστική τάξη, που περιστοιχίζει τον πρόεδρο της χώρας και την κόρη του, Ιζαμπέλ ντος Σάντος –την πιο πλούσια γυναίκα της Αφρικής.

Το πρόβλημα, όπως μας εξηγεί ο Πορτογάλος δημοσιογράφος και συγγραφέας Jorge Costa, είναι ότι την τελευταία δεκαετία η «Αγκόλα άρχισε να εξαγοράζει τις μεγαλύτερες βιομηχανίες και επιχειρήσεις της Πορτογαλίας», η οποία από αποικιοκρατική δύναμη μετατρεπόταν σε μια αποικία χρέους της Ε.Ε. Η κατάσταση, σύμφωνα με τον Jorge Costa, θα λάβει δραματικές διαστάσεις με την επιβολή του μνημονίου, καθώς η χώρα ξεπουλά όσο όσο τη δημόσια περιουσία σε όποιον είναι διατεθειμένος να αγοράσει. Οπως συμβαίνει σε ολόκληρη την Ευρώπη, οι νεοφιλελεύθεροι δημοσιολόγοι και πολιτικοί της Πορτογαλίας συκοφαντούν τον δημόσιο τομέα της χώρας τους σαν ανεπαρκή και κοστοβόρο για να τον ξεπουλήσουν τελικά στον δημόσιο τομέα μιας άλλης χώρας –στη συγκεκριμένη περίπτωση μιας πρώην αποικίας της Πορτογαλίας.

Εκτός όμως από τον κλάδο των τηλεπικοινωνιών, των τραπεζών και της ενέργειας, που περνά σταδιακά στον έλεγχο επιχειρηματιών της Αγκόλας, αλλά και του ίδιου του κρατικού της μηχανισμού, η Πορτογαλία θα «πουλήσει» και την ελευθερία του Τύπου. «Προκειμένου να χρησιμοποιείς τους στρατηγικούς τομείς μιας οικονομίας, που θα έπρεπε να ανήκουν στους πολίτες, για συσσώρευση κεφαλαίου πρέπει να ελέγχεις και τα μέσα ενημέρωσης» μου εξηγούσε ο Jorge Costa. «Αγοράζουν λοιπόν τη μια μετά την άλλη τις εφημερίδες, τους ραδιοφωνικούς και τους τηλεοπτικούς σταθμούς. Οι ίδιοι άνθρωποι δηλαδή που στην Αγκόλα ευθύνονται για τις φυλακίσεις ή ακόμη και τον βασανισμό δημοσιογράφων αποκτούν τον έλεγχο των ΜΜΕ» σε μια χώρα της Ε.Ε.

Αν όμως η Πορτογαλία μετατρέπεται σε οικονομική αποικία μιας πρώην αποικίας της, ρώτησα τον Πορτογάλο αναλυτή, γιατί ο Ντάισελμπλουμ παρουσιάζει τη χώρα σαν τον «καλό μαθητή» της τρόικας που κατάφερε να πετάξει μακριά τα μνημόνια; «Πρόκειται για το προπαγανδιστικό δώρο της κυβέρνησής μας στη Μέρκελ και στον Σόιμπλε για να χτυπήσουν την Ελλάδα αλλά και τους Πορτογάλους πολίτες» εξηγεί ο Jorge Costa. «Εξοργίζομαι -μου λέει- όταν μας το παρουσιάζουν σαν success story ενώ 300.000 νέοι άνθρωποι έγιναν μετανάστες για να επιβιώσουν –ουσιαστικά τους απέλασε η λιτότητα». Ο Costa μού περιγράφει τρομακτικές εικόνες από την έκρηξη της μακροχρόνιας ανεργίας, τη σταδιακή διάλυση του εκπαιδευτικού συστήματος, όπου τα σχολεία άνοιξαν φέτος χωρίς δασκάλους, αλλά και την κατάρρευση του συστήματος υγείας. Η ανάλυσή του πάντως σε σχέση με την Ελλάδα είναι ότι η κατάσταση στη χώρα του ίσως είναι ελαφρώς καλύτερη, όχι γιατί η Πορτογαλία εφάρμοσε τα μέτρα του μνημονίου, αλλά γιατί η Ε.Ε. έχοντας δει τις τρομακτικές τους επιπτώσεις στην Ελλάδα δεν τόλμησε να βάλει το μαχαίρι τόσο βαθιά στο κόκαλο.

«Βλέποντας τι συμβαίνει τώρα στη χώρα σας (με τις διαπραγματεύσεις) -καταλήγει ο Costa- αρχίζω να συνειδητοποιώ πόσο δύσκολο είναι να αλλάξει η πολιτική της Ε.Ε. και να γίνει τμήμα της λύσης αντί να αποτελεί τον πυρήνα του προβλήματος».

A response to misinformation on Nicaragua: it was a coup, not a ‘massacre’

There is so much misinformation in mainstream corporate media about recent events in Nicaragua that it is a pity that Mary Ellsberg’s article for Pulse has added to it with a seemingly leftish critique. Ellsberg claims that recent articles, including from this website, often “ paint a picture of the crisis in Nicaragua that is dangerously misleading. ” Unfortunately, her own article does just that.
