Το Facebook άνοιξε «μέτωπο» στα κρυπτονομίσματα

Το Facebook έκανε γνωστό ότι εφεξής θα μπλοκάρει κάθε διαφημιστική προώθηση κάθε προϊόντος και υπηρεσίας που αφορούν κρυπτονομίσματα, όπως το διάσημο Bitcoin.

Σύμφωνα με το Αθηναϊκό Πρακτορείο, το Facebook δηλώνει πάντα ανοιχτό στις αναδυόμενες τεχνολογίες, αλλά πολλές εταιρείες δεν ενεργούν με «καλή πίστη», όταν διατυμπανίζουν τις αρετές των κρυπτονομισμάτων, δελεάζοντας νέους πελάτες. Τελευταία, έχει εμφανισθεί ένα νέο κύμα τέτοιων εικονικών-ψηφιακών νομισμάτων, που έρχονται να εκμεταλλευθούν τη φήμη του Bitcoin.

Το Facebook, σύμφωνα με το BBC, ενθαρρύνει πια τους χρήστες να αναφέρουν τυχόν διαφημίσεις κρυπτονομισμάτων, τις οποίες το «δίχτυ» ασφαλείας του δικτύου δεν θα έχει πιάσει, καθώς παραδέχθηκε ότι το ίδιο δεν είναι δυνατό να τις εντοπίσει όλες. Πολλές διαφημίσεις καλούν τους καταναλωτές να προαγοράσουν νέα κρυπτονομίσματα, προτού καν αυτά εμφανισθούν επίσημα (η διαδικασία λέγεται ICO-Initial Coin Offering), με την ελπίδα ότι στο μέλλον θα βγουν πιο κερδισμένοι, όταν - και αν - αυξηθεί η αξία του νομίσματος. Όμως, καθώς δεν υπάρχει κάποιο ρυθμιστικό πλαίσιο να προστατεύει τους «επενδυτές», οι τελευταίοι αντιμετωπίζουν μεγάλους κινδύνους να πέσουν θύμα απάτης.

Η άντληση χρημάτων μέσω ICO ενός κρυπτονομίσματος που δεν υπάρχει καν, έχει ήδη απαγορευθεί στην Ν. Κορέα και στην Κίνα, ενώ και άλλες χώρες προειδοποιούν ότι αποτελεί άκρως ριψοκίνδυνη πρακτική. Η χρήση του Facebook για να δημιουργηθεί «θόρυβος» γύρω από ένα κρυπτονόμισμα, έχει αποδειχθεί αποτελεσματική μέθοδος για την προσέλκυση πρόθυμων να αγοράσουν το νέο νόμισμα, ιδίως αν κάποιος διάσημος χρήστης το «υιοθετήσει». Το Facebook ξεκαθάρισε ότι φράσεις του τύπου «Νέα ICO! Αγοράστε νομίσματα τώρα με έκπτωση 15%» ή «Χρησιμοποιείστε τα κεφάλαιά της σύνταξής σας για να αγοράσετε Bitcoin» δεν θα επιτρέπονται πλέον.
