Wag the dog (ή αλλιώς, δώστε κάνα Πούλιτζερ, ρε αχάριστοι)

«Αυτό το περιστατικό δείχνει την αντίληψη που έχουν αυτοί οι άνθρωποι για τη ζωή, τα παιδιά, τις γυναίκες» υποστήριζε το απόγευμα της Τετάρτης από το στούντιο του ΣΚΑΪ ο Άρης Πορτοσάλτε αναφερόμενος στους πρόσφυγες, με αφορμή το περιστατικό με τον Αφγανό και το μωρό στο λιμάνι του Πειραιά. Πρόσθεσε μάλιστα με προφανή αγανάκτηση πως δε θα ζητήσει την άποψη της ΕΣΗΕΑ για να εκφράζει τις θέσεις του.

Την ίδια στιγμή, η ανακοίνωση της προσωρινής διαγραφής του ίδιου καθώς και των Σταμάτη Μαλέλη και Νίκου Κονιτόπουλου από τα μητρώα της Ένωσης είχε προκαλέσει ξέσπασμα «ιερής οργής» από μεγαλοδημοσιογράφους, πολιτικούς αρχηγούς κι οικονομικούς παράγοντες. Και τι δεν ακούσαμε, για πολιτικές διώξεις, για καθεστώτα Βορείου Κορέας μέχρι κι αναφορές στη Χούντα.

Οφείλω να ομολογήσω πως σε ένα πράμα συμφωνώ απόλυτα με τον κύριο Πορτοσάλτε: προφανώς και δε χρειάζεται την άδεια κανενός σωματείου για να εκφράζει απόψεις, ακόμη κι αν αυτές είναι ακραία ρατσιστικές και μισαλλόδοξες. Ακόμη κι αν βάζει φιτίλι σε μια ήδη εξαιρετικά εύφλεκτη κατάσταση όπως αυτή του προσφυγικού. Η υπόθεση της διαγραφής του από το Πειθαρχικό Συμβούλιο της ΕΣΗΕΑ είναι όμως μια διαφορετική ιστορία.

Η (καθόλου απλή) τέχνη της χειραγώγησης

Πριν από περίπου 20 χρόνια έβγαινε στη μεγάλη οθόνη η ταινία «Wag the dog» με πρωταγωνιστές τους Ρόμπερτ Ντε Νίρο και Ντάστιν Χόφμαν, η οποία περιέγραφε με πολύ εύστοχο τρόπο τη διαδικασία της χειραγώγησης της κοινής γνώμης από τα ΜΜΕ. Το στόρι απλό: λίγο πριν από τη διεκδίκηση της επανεκλογής του ένας Αμερικάνος Πρόεδρος μπλέκει σε ερωτικό σκάνδαλο, οπότε σύμβουλοί του και παράγοντες του Χόλιγουντ και των ΜΜΕ «στήνουν» έναν ανύπαρκτο πόλεμο στην Αλβανία προκειμένου να στρέψουν εκεί το επίκεντρο του ενδιαφέροντος. Το βασικό σκεπτικό στο οποίο βασίστηκαν εξίσου απλό: στρέφοντας την προσοχή κάποιου αποκλειστικά στην ουρά ενός σκύλου, μπορείς να τον πείσεις πως είναι η ουρά που κουνάει το σκύλο.

Κάτι ανάλογο συμβαίνει κατά τη διάρκεια των τελευταίων δεκαετιών με τα εγχώρια συστημικά ΜΜΕ. Να θυμίσουμε πώς αντί να επικεντρώνονται στην αντίθεση εκατοντάδων χιλιάδων διαδηλωτών στις μνημονιακές πολιτικές, προσπαθούσαν να τους παρουσιάσουν ως ταραξίες; Να φέρουμε στο μυαλό μας την συντονισμένη επιχείρηση ακραίας τρομοκράτησης του ελληνικού λαού πριν τις εκλογές του Ιουνίου του 2012, μην τυχόν υπάρξει πολιτική αλλαγή στη χώρα;

Θυμάστε που θα γινόμασταν Ζάμπια;

Παρ’ όλα αυτά, πρέπει να αναγνωρίσουμε πως τη βδομάδα που προηγήθηκε του δημοψηφίσματος ξεπέρασαν κάθε προσδοκία. Δε χρειάζεται να σταθεί κανείς απλά στα στημένα, καθημερινά ρεπορτάζ στις τράπεζες και τα σούπερ μάρκετ, ούτε στην «πλύση εγκεφάλου» που επέστησαν οι πολίτες ότι οσονούπω η χώρα «θα γινόταν Ζάμπια». Αρκεί να αναλογιστεί κανείς πως σε κανένα από τα εν λόγω Μέσα δεν παρουσιάστηκε, έστω σε αδρές γραμμές, η πρόταση Γιούνκερ, ούτε προφανώς οι επιπτώσεις που θα είχε τυχόν εφαρμογή της στην (ήδη καθημαγμένη μετά από χρόνια ακραίας λιτότητας) ελληνική κοινωνία.

Από την άλλη βέβαια, δεν μπορεί να μην παραδεχτεί κανείς πως ήταν η μνημονιακή συνθηκολόγηση της κυβέρνησης Τσίπρα την επαύριο του δημοψηφίσματος που επέτρεψε ακόμη και σε αυτό το μιντιακό σύστημα να παρουσιάζει πια εαυτόν ως δικαιωμένο. Σε κάθε περίπτωση όμως, η συγκεκριμένη πολιτική επιλογή θα αξιολογηθεί (πιθανότατα πολύ αυστηρά) από τον ελληνικό λαό αργά ή γρήγορα. Η ασυδοσία όμως διαφόρων μεγασχήμονων των ΜΜΕ από ποιον και με ποια διαδικασία τίθεται άραγε σε κρίση; Από τα εκάστοτε οικονομικά συμφέροντα που καλούνται να υπηρετήσουν;

Μόνο ως αστείο ηχούν λοιπόν στους περισσότερους οι κλαυθμοί κι οι οδυρμοί σχετικά με την υποτιθέμενη «αντιδημοκρατική εκτροπή» της ΕΣΗΕΑ. Αυτή άλλωστε δεν είναι δυνατό να εξαγνιστεί τόσο εύκολα από τις αμαρτίες της, καθώς επί χρόνια ανεχόταν φαινόμενα βαθιάς σήψης στο εσωτερικό της. Σε τέτοιο βαθμό που έρχονται σήμερα διάφοροι να ζητήσουν τα ρέστα που αντί να τους δοθεί Πούλιτζερ, τους επιβάλλονται και ποινές.

Στην ίδια λογική που ο Άδωνις Γεωργιάδης θεωρεί αχαριστία που δεν τιμούν οι «αχάριστοι Έλληνες» τον Σταύρο Παπασταύρου δίνοντας το όνομα του σε κάποιο δρόμο. Και προφανώς στην διαδεδομένη πρακτική των περισσοτέρων ΜΜΕ διεθνώς: είναι η ουρά που κουνάει τον σκύλο.
