Το Ισραήλ εγκρίνει τη μεγαλύτερη κατασκευή οικισμού στη Δυτική Όχθη τα τελευταία 25 χρόνια

Το Ισραήλ έδωσε το πράσινο φως σε σχέδια για πάνω από 8.000 νέες κατοικίες στη Δυτική Όχθη, με πάνω από το ένα τρίτο για "άμεση" κατασκευή, αποκάλυψε ο υπουργός Άμυνας την Κυριακή, καθιστώντας την απόφαση τη μεγαλύτερη επέκταση των Εβραϊκών οικισμών στην περιοχή τα τελευταία 25 χρόνια.

Σύμφωνα με τον ισραηλινό υπουργό Άμυνας Avigdor Lieberman, 3.651 οικισμοί εγκρίθηκαν την περασμένη εβδομάδα, όπως αναφέρει η Haaretz. Ο υπουργός σημείωσε ότι "Αυτό που εγκρίναμε στις 6 και 7 Ιουνίου είναι το μέγιστο που μπορεί να εγκριθεί".

Σχέδια για 8.345 νέες οικιστικές μονάδες έχουν εγκριθεί από τις Ισραηλινές αρχές μέχρι στιγμής φέτος, γράφει η Εβραϊκή Τηλεγραφική Υπηρεσία, επικαλούμενη τον Liebermann. Από αυτές, 3.066 έχουν εγκριθεί οριστικά και σύντομα θα κατασκευαστούν.

Η κατασκευή οικισμών στην περιοχή θεωρείται παράνομη με βάση το διεθνές δίκαιο. Η διεθνής κοινότητα έχει από καιρό εκφράσει ανησυχίες σχετικά με τις αμφιλεγόμενες κατασκευές καταδικάζοντας παράλληλα την επιδείνωση της κατάστασης ασφάλειας μεταξύ Ισραηλινών και Παλαιστινίων. Η κυβέρνηση του Ισραήλ σταμάτησε επισήμως το χτίσιμο των κατοικιών το 1992, σύμφωνα με το Ισραηλινό παρατηρητήριο Peace Now. Ωστόσο, αυτό δεν εμπόδισε την κατασκευή μη εγκεκριμένων οικισμών στη Δυτική Όχθη.
