Είναι κάτι πιο βαθύ κι από τον Κόρμπιν…

«Ο σοσιαλισμός είναι και πάλι στη μόδα» έγραφε με εμφανή σημάδια αηδίας ο επικεφαλής οικονομικού ρεπορτάζ της γερμανικής εφημερίδας Σιντόιτσε Τσάιτουγκ, όταν πληροφορήθηκε την απρόσμενη νίκη του Τζέρεμι Κόρμπιν στη μάχη για την ηγεσία των Βρετανών Εργατικών. Οι γερμανικές και ευρωπαϊκές οικονομικές ελίτ δυσκολεύονταν να κρύψουν την απέχθειά τους για έναν άνθρωπο που αμφισβητεί ευθέως την πολιτική του ΝΑΤΟ, ζητά επανεθνικοποίηση των σιδηροδρόμων και στρατηγικών υποδομών της Βρετανίας και –άκουσον άκουσον– μιλά για την προστασία των εργασιακών δικαιωμάτων και την τόνωση της αγοράς μέσω κρατικών επενδύσεων.

Αυτό που πραγματικά εξόργιζε τους Γερμανούς, όμως, ήταν η πρόταση του Κόρμπιν να τερματίσει στην πράξη τη λεγόμενη «ανεξαρτησία» της κεντρικής τράπεζας και να την χρησιμοποιήσει σαν μηχανισμό αναδιανομής εισοδήματος μέσω της ενίσχυσης προγραμμάτων κοινωνικής προστασίας των ασθενέστερων στρωμάτων. Ένας από τους βασικούς πυλώνες της ευρωπαϊκής πολιτικής, που θέλει τις κεντρικές τράπεζες να λειτουργούν είτε σαν πέμπτη φάλαγγα της ΕΚΤ (στο εσωτερικό της ευρωζώνης), είτε σαν εντολοδόχους του τοπικού κεφαλαίου (σε χώρες όπως η Βρετανία), αμφισβητούνταν ανοιχτά, όχι στην περιφέρεια της Ευρώπης, αλλά σε μια από τις καπιταλιστικές της μητροπόλεις.

Δεν ήταν η πρώτη φορά βέβαια που ο Κόρμπιν προκαλούσε τέτοιου είδους συναισθήματα στους συνομιλητές του. Γεννημένος σε οικογένεια αριστερών αντιφασιστών (οι γονείς του γνωρίστηκαν σε συγκεντρώσεις για τον ισπανικό εμφύλιο και έδωσαν μάχες σώμα με σώμα με τους Βρετανούς μελανοχίτωνες της δεκαετίας του ‘30) ο μικρός Τζέρεμι βρέθηκε από πολύ νωρίς σε μαχητικά συνδικάτα και οργανώσεις. Στη διάρκεια της πολιτικής του καριέρας κατάφερε όσο ελάχιστοι να εξοργίσουν το βρετανικό πολιτικό και οικονομικό κατεστημένο. Ίσως το χαρακτηριστικότερο περιστατικό ήταν η απόφασή του να προσκαλέσει στο βρετανικό κοινοβούλιο τον Τζέρι Άνταμς, επικεφαλής του πολιτικού σκέλους του Ιρλανδικού Δημοκρατικού Στρατού, λίγες μόλις εβδομάδες από τη στιγμή που ο ΙΡΑ τίναξε στον αέρα ένα ξενοδοχείο στο Μπράιτον, στο οποίο συνεδρίαζε το συντηρητικό κόμμα υπό την Μάργκαρετ Θάτσερ. Παρά το γεγονός ότι από την επίθεση δεν σκοτώθηκαν βουλευτές του κυβερνώντος κόμματος, ο ΙΡΑ είχε μόλις καταφέρει ένα σαρωτικό πλήγμα στο κύρος του βρετανικού κράτους (για να διασώσει μάλιστα τις εντυπώσεις η Μάργκαρετ Θάτσερ, αναγκάστηκε να συνεχίσει τις εργασίες του συνεδρίου στο κατεστραμμένο ξενοδοχείο σαν ένδειξη κυριαρχίας).

Λίγα χρόνια αργότερα, το 1990, βρέθηκε και πάλι αντιμέτωπος με την Θάτσερ αλλά και με το ενδεχόμενο να οδηγηθεί στη φυλακή όταν αρνήθηκε να πληρώσει το περίφημο χαράτσι (Poll Tax) που αυτή επέβαλε – απόφαση η οποία τελικά εξανέμισε το πολιτικό κεφάλαιο της Σιδηράς Κυρίας αναγκάζοντάς την σε ταπεινωτική αποχώρηση από την πολιτική, λίγους μήνες αργότερα.

Ο Κόρμπιν πρωτοστάτησε σε όλες τις αντιπολεμικές κινητοποιήσεις των τελευταίων δεκαετιών ενώ στο παρελθόν είχε συλληφθεί για την αντίδρασή του στο φιλοφασιστικό καθεστώς απαρτχάιντ της Νότιας Αφρικής. Το ισραηλινό λόμπι τον θεωρεί δικαίως σαν έναν από τους σημαντικότερους εχθρούς του για την σταθερή προσήλωσή του στον παλαιστινιακό αγώνα ενώ δεκάδες κινήματα για την προστασία του περιβάλλοντος και των ανθρωπίνων δικαιωμάτων τον έχουν πάντα προμετωπίδα στις κινητοποιήσεις τους.

Έχοντας πάντα το θάρρος της γνώμης του δεν δίστασε να αμφισβητήσει θεσμούς και αποφάσεις ακόμη και αν ερχόταν σε σύγκρουση με τη βρετανική κοινή γνώμη – είτε πρόκειται για σοβαρά θέματα, όπως η συμμετοχή της Βρετανίας στο ΝΑΤΟ ή απλώς η διατήρηση της μοναρχίας στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο. Σε παρόμοιο μήκος κύματος κινείται και σε ό,τι αφορά τη συμμετοχή της Αγγλίας στην ΕΕ. Αν και στο παρελθόν άφηνε ανοιχτό τα ενδεχόμενο να ψηφίσει υπέρ του λεγόμενου Brexit στο επερχόμενο δημοψήφισμα, εάν η παραμονή στην ΕΕ συνοδευόταν από περαιτέρω ψαλίδισμα εργασιακών δικαιωμάτων, με πρόσφατο άρθρο του στους Φαϊνάνσιαλ Τάιμς ξεκαθάρισε ότι θέλει να δώσει τη μάχη κατά της λιτότητας μέσα από την Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση. Παρόλα αυτά οι ευρωπαίοι κομισάριοι από την πλευρά τους γνωρίζουν ότι οι υποσχέσεις του για επανεθνικοποίηση των βρετανικών σιδηροδρόμων αλλά και των στρατηγικών επιχειρήσεων ενέργειας απειλούν την πεμπτουσία του νεοφιλελεύθερου μοντέλου με βάση το οποίο λειτουργεί η ΕΕ.

Σημαίνουν μήπως όλα αυτά ότι ο Κόρμπιν εκφράζει κάποια μορφή επαναστατικής, αντικαπιταλιστικής Αριστεράς που απειλεί να καταλάβει την εξουσία στη Μεγάλη Βρετανίας; Δυστυχώς απέχουμε πολύ από μια τέτοια κατάσταση. Ο Κόρμπιν δημιούργησε ήδη μια σκιώδη κυβέρνηση με αρκετά από τα ακραία συντηρητικά στελέχη των Εργατικών που κυριάρχησαν στη νεοφιλελεύθερη περίοδο του κόμματος. Όπως εξηγούσε πρόσφατα και ο Ταρίκ Αλί, σύντομα θα βρεθεί αντιμέτωπος με τις ηγετικές ομάδες του κόμματός του, οι οποίες έχοντας χάσει κάθε επαφή με τη βάση των ψηφοφόρων και με τα συνδικάτα θα επιχειρήσουν να τον σύρουν σε πολύ πιο συντηρητικές θέσεις.

Αυτό που πραγματικά ενοχλεί τις ευρωπαϊκές και οικονομικές ελίτ δεν είναι οι σοσιαλιστικές καταβολές του Κόρμπι, τον οποίο θεωρούν ότι θα μπορέσουν εύκολα να καθυποτάξουν μέσα από το μηχανισμό του δικό του κόμματος, αλλά η ριζοσπαστικοποιήση της βάσης του Εργατικού Κόμματος που τον εξέλεξε με σχεδόν 60%. Δικαίως το συγκεκριμένο ποσοστό τους προκαλεί ανάλογα συναισθήματα φόβου με το 62% του ελληνικού δημοψηφίσματος, το οποίο αμφισβήτησε όχι μόνο τη νεοφιλελεύθερη πολιτική λιτότητας αλλά και τις σοσιαλδημοκρατικές βαλβίδες εκτόνωσης που το ίδιο το σύστημα τοποθετούσε σαν ανάχωμα απέναντι στις λαϊκές διεκδικήσεις.

Το γεγονός ότι στην ηγεσία των Εργατικών βρέθηκε ένας άνθρωπος που τηρεί εδώ και δεκαετίες μια αξιοπρεπή προοδευτική στάση ενοχλεί αφάνταστα το Βερολίνο. Πολύ περισσότερο όμως θα έπρεπε να ανησυχεί την αυτοαποκαλούμενη Αριστερά, τύπου ΣΥΡΙΖΑ και Podemos, η οποία εμφανίζεται στις πραγματικές της διαστάσεις – δηλαδή σαν νεοσυντηρητικά κόμματα που κινούνται σε πολύ πιο δεξιές γραμμές ακόμη και από την ηγεσία των Βρετανών Εργατικών.
