Η Εποχή της Απόγνωσης: θερίζοντας τη θύελλα της δυτικής υποστήριξης στην εξτρεμιστική βία

Εμείς, η Δύση, ανατρέψαμε τον Σαντάμ με τη βία. Εμείς, ανατρέψαμε τον Καντάφι με τη βία. Προσπαθούμε να ανατρέψουμε τον Άσαντ με τη βία. Σκληρά καθεστώτα όλα - αλλά πολύ λιγότερο δρακόντεια από τη Σαουδική Αραβία που είναι σύμμαχός μας, και άλλες τυραννίες σε όλο τον κόσμο. Ποιο ήταν το αποτέλεσμα αυτών των παρεμβάσεων; Μια κόλαση στη γη, μια κόλαση που μεγαλώνει όλο και περισσότερο και γίνεται πιο επιθετική από χρόνο σε χρόνο.

Χωρίς το αμερικανικό έγκλημα του επιθετικού πολέμου κατά του Ιράκ – ο οποίος, από τις μετρήσεις που προβάλλονται από τις ίδιες τις δυτικές κυβερνήσεις, άφησε πίσω του περισσότερους από ένα εκατομμύριο αθώους νεκρούς - δεν θα υπήρχε ISIS, ούτε "Αλ Κάιντα στο Ιράκ." Χωρίς την χρηματοδότηση της Σαουδικής Αραβίας και της Δύσης και τον εξοπλισμό ενός κράματος εξτρεμιστικών σουνιτικών ομάδων σε ολόκληρη την Μέση Ανατολή, που χρησιμοποιούνται ως υποκατάστατα για να χτυπηθεί το Ιράν και οι σύμμαχοί του, δεν θα υπήρχε ISIS. Ας πάμε ακόμα πιο πίσω. Χωρίς την άμεση, εκτεταμένη και σκόπιμη δημιουργία από τις Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες και τους Σαουδάραβες συμμάχους της, μιας παγκόσμιας κίνησης ένοπλων σουνιτών εξτρεμιστών κατά τη διάρκεια των διοικήσεων του Κάρτερ και του Ρέιγκαν, δεν θα υπήρχε κανένας «πόλεμος κατά της τρομοκρατίας», ούτε θα υπήρχαν οι τρομοκρατικές επιθέσεις στο Παρίσι.

Και πάλι, ας είμαστε όσο το δυνατόν σαφέστεροι: ο καταχθόνιος κόσμος στον οποίο ζούμε σήμερα είναι το αποτέλεσμα της σκόπιμης πολιτικής και των δράσεων που αναλαμβάνονται από τις Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες και τους συμμάχους τους κατά την διάρκεια των τελευταίων δεκαετιών. Ήταν η Ουάσιγκτον που οδήγησε ή / και στήριξε την ισοπέδωση της κοσμικής πολιτικής αντίστασης σε όλη τη Μέση Ανατολή, προκειμένου να εκδιώξει μη συνεργάσιμους ηγέτες, όπως τον Νάσερ και να στηρίξει διεφθαρμένους και στυγνούς δικτάτορες, που θα προωθούσαν την ατζέντα των ΗΠΑ που ήταν η πολιτική κυριαρχίας και η εκμετάλλευση των πόρων.

Η ανοικτή ιστορία του τελευταίου μισού αιώνα είναι πολύ σαφής στο θέμα αυτό. Πηγαίνοντας όλο τον δρόμο πίσω στην ανατροπή της δημοκρατικής κυβέρνησης του Ιράν το 1953, οι Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες έχουν σκόπιμα και συνειδητά σπρώξει τις πιο ακραίες θρησκευτικές ομάδες, προκειμένου να υπονομεύσουν μια ευρύτερη βάση κοσμικής αντίστασης στην κυριαρχία της ημερήσιας διάταξης.

Γιατί ν’αναφέρεται αυτή η «αρχαία ιστορία», όταν φρέσκο αίμα ρέει στους δρόμους του Παρισιού; Επειδή το αίμα δεν θα έρεε, εάν δεν υπήρχε αυτή η «αρχαία» ιστορία και επειδή η αντίδραση στον πιο πρόσφατο απόηχο της διακομματικής καλλιέργειας του θρησκευτικού εξτρεμισμού από την Ουάσιγκτον εδώ και δεκαετίες, θα είναι σίγουρα περισσότερη αιματοχυσία, περισσότερη καταστολή και πιο βίαιες επεμβάσεις. Που με τη σειρά τους, αναπόφευκτα, θα παράγουν ακόμη περισσότερες θηριωδίες και αναστάτωση, σαν αυτές που βλέπουμε στο Παρίσι.

Γράφω βρισκόμενος σε απόγνωση. Απόγνωση, φυσικά, από την αχρειότητα που επέδειξαν οι δολοφόνοι των αθώων στο Παρίσι, αλλά ακόμα βαθύτερη απόγνωση για την αχρειότητα των σκανδαλωδών δολοφόνων, που μας έφεραν σε αυτό το άθλιο σημείο της ανθρώπινης ιστορίας: αυτά τα επιχρυσωμένα άτομα, που μπήκαν στις αίθουσες της εξουσίας εδώ και δεκαετίες στους υψηλούς θαλάμους της Δύσης, σκοτώνοντας εκατοντάδες χιλιάδες αθώους ανθρώπους, συνθλίβοντας την κοσμική αντιπολίτευση ευνοώντας δικτάτορες – και ξανά, ξανά και ξανά - υποστηρίζοντας, χρηματοδοτώντας και εξοπλίζοντας μερικούς από τους πιο επιθετικούς σεχταριστές στη γη.

Και μία ακόμη αιτία της απόγνωσης: ότι, παρόλο που αυτή η ιστορική καταγραφή είναι εκεί ανοιχτή και γνωστή, υπάρχει άμεσα διαθέσιμη από τις πιο επικρατούσες πηγές, αγνοείται και θα συνεχίσει να αγνοείται πλήρως, τόσο από τους παίχτες της εξουσίας όσο και από το ίδιο το κοινό. Οι τελευταίοι θα συνεχίσουν να στηρίζουν τους πρώην, καθώς αναπαράγουν και αναμασούν τις ίδιες παλιές πολιτικές παρέμβασης, τις ίδιες παλιές ατζέντες της κυριαρχίας και της απληστίας, ξανά και ξανά και ξανά - δημιουργώντας ολοένα και πιο νέες κολάσεις για να ζούμε μέσα σε αυτές όλοι μας και δηλητηριάζουν τις ζωές των παιδιών μας και όλων εκείνων που θα έρθουν μετά από εμάς.

A response to misinformation on Nicaragua: it was a coup, not a ‘massacre’

There is so much misinformation in mainstream corporate media about recent events in Nicaragua that it is a pity that Mary Ellsberg’s article for Pulse has added to it with a seemingly leftish critique.
