Ο Hawking επιβεβαιώνει: Ο καπιταλισμός είναι το πρόβλημα, όχι τα ρομπότ!

Ο διάσημος Βρετανός θεωρητικός φυσικός και κοσμολόγος Stephen Hawking, σε μια πρόσφατη διαδικτυακή συζήτηση στο reddit, έθεσε και πάλι τον προβληματισμό του για την άνοδο των μηχανών. Σε παλαιότερο άρθρο του, είχε επισημάνει τον κίνδυνο ότι υπερφυείς μηχανές θα μπορούσαν στο μέλλον να παραγκωνίσουν τον ίδιο τον άνθρωπο και να κυριαρχήσουν στον πλανήτη αντικαθιστώντας τον.

Αυτή τη φορά ο Hawking ξεκίνησε τη συζήτηση λέγοντας ουσιαστικά ότι δεν είναι το πρόβλημα οι μηχανές, αλλά ο τρόπος που χρησιμοποιούνται μέσα από μια κυρίαρχη κουλτούρα.

Συγκεκριμένα έγραψε ότι “αν οι μηχανές παράγουν ότι χρειαζόμαστε, το αποτέλεσμα θα εξαρτάται από το πως θα κατανέμονται τα αγαθά. Όλοι θα μπορούσαν να απολαύσουν μια ζωή με την πολυτέλεια του ελεύθερου χρόνου, αν ο παραγόμενος από τις μηχανές πλούτος μοιράζονταν, ή, οι άνθρωποι να καταλήξουν στην ακραία φτώχεια, αν οι ιδιοκτήτες των μηχανών συνασπιστούν κατά της διανομής του πλούτου. Ως τώρα, η τάση φαίνεται ότι γέρνει προς την δεύτερη επιλογή, με την τεχνολογία να οδηγεί σε πρωτοφανή αυξανόμενη ανισότητα.”

Ο καθηγητής έχει απόλυτο δίκιο. Το πρόβλημα δεν είναι η αυτοματοποίηση αυτή καθαυτή, αλλά το κυρίαρχο σύστημα κάτω από το οποίο εξελίσσεται. Ο απαρχαιωμένος, πλέον, καπιταλισμός, χρησιμοποιείται από τις οικονομικές ελίτ ως ένα ενδιάμεσο εργαλείο για την εγκαθίδρυση της νέας Φεουδαρχίας, που θα τις επιτρέψει να έχουν τον απόλυτο έλεγχο. Σε ένα τέτοιο Δυστοπικό σκηνικό, η τεχνολογία θα χρησιμοποιηθεί για να εξασφαλίσει την κυριαρχία των λίγων, αντί να βελτιώνει τις ζωές δισεκατομμυρίων ανθρώπων.

Το χειρότερο όλων, είναι ότι οι Δυτικές κοινωνίες έχουν "συμβιβαστεί" με μια κουλτούρα, η κεντρική φιλοσοφία της οποίας επιβάλλει την αντίληψη ότι δεν μπορεί να υπάρξει καλύτερη κοινωνία έξω από τον καπιταλισμό. Είναι μια κουλτούρα που εκφράστηκε με τον Θατσερικό μύθο "There Is No Alternative" - δεν υπάρχει εναλλακτική, ή, από το "Τέλος της Ιστορίας" του Φουκουγιάμα. Αυτή η κουλτούρα έχει εμφυτευθεί βαθιά στη Δυτική σκέψη, κυρίως τα τελευταία εκατό χρόνια και αποτέλεσε βασικό δομικό στοιχείο του Δυτικού νεο-ορθολογισμού.

Αυτή η κουλτούρα γέννησε τον καταστροφικό νεοφιλελευθερισμό, μια εκτρωματική παραλλαγή του καπιταλισμού, που οι ελίτ χρησιμοποιούν ως ενδιάμεσο στάδιο, καταστρέφοντας ότι έχει κατακτηθεί από την πλειοψηφία, τις τελευταίες δεκαετίες. Οι ελίτ σπάνε το "κοινωνικό συμβόλαιο" με την πλειοψηφία, ακριβώς επειδή δεν χρειάζονται πλέον το ανθρώπινο εργατικό δυναμικό. Οι κοινωνίες ζουν ακόμα μέσα σε αυτό το 'Matrix' της συγκεκριμένης κουλτούρας. Φαίνεται, τουλάχιστον για την ώρα, ότι είναι ανήμπορες να ελευθερωθούν, να σπάσουν τα δεσμά τους και να αγωνιστούν.

Έχοντας εξασφαλίσει το νέο εργατικό δυναμικό μέσω πλήρως αυτοματοποιημένων μηχανών, αυτό που έμεινε τώρα για την κυρίαρχη ελίτ, είναι να καταλάβει όλους τους φυσικούς πόρους. Μεγάλες εταιρίες αρπάζουν τεράστιες καλλιεργήσιμες εκτάσεις, ειδικότερα στις αναπτυσσόμενες χώρες, με σκοπό να ελέγξουν την παραγωγή τροφής.
