Η «συμμορία» του ευρώ και η Ernst & Young

Η Επιτροπή Αλήθειας Δημοσίου Χρέους έφερε πριν από εβδομάδες στο φως τα «σεμινάρια δημοσιογράφων» του ΔΝΤ. Μήπως όμως διαθέτει και η Ε.Ε. τα δικά της «σχολεία» για να προωθεί το ενιαίο νόμισμα, να δικαιολογεί τις πραξικοπηματικές παρεμβάσεις της ΕΚΤ και τη διαρκή διάσωση των τραπεζών σε βάρος των πολιτών; Η απάντηση είναι ότι όχι μόνο τα διαθέτει, αλλά τα μαθήματα ξεκινούν από την… Δ’ Δημοτικού.

Tο 1998 ο εκπρόσωπος του Ηνωμένου Βασιλείου στην Ευρωπαϊκή Επιτροπή έδωσε μια περίεργη εντολή. Διέταξε να πολτοποιηθούν 75.000 αντίτυπα ενός παιδικού κόμικς με τίτλο «Ο πόλεμος του παγωτού βατόμουρου». Στο βιβλίο τρία παιδιά που ζουν στην Ε.Ε. πραγματοποιούν ένα ταξίδι στον χρόνο για να βρεθούν σε μια Ευρώπη η οποία είναι ακόμη χωρισμένη με σύνορα και όπου διεφθαρμένοι συνοροφύλακες λαδώνονται για να επιτρέψουν τη μετακίνηση των πολιτών.

Οι διαιρέσεις μεταξύ των λαών είναι τόσο μεγάλες ώστε οι χώρες που φτιάχνουν παγωτό βατόμουρο δεν μπορούν να συνεννοηθούν με αυτές που παράγουν χωνάκια ώστε να προωθήσουν μαζί ένα κοινό προϊόν. Οταν όμως ένα από τα παιδιά αποφασίζει ότι προτιμά να μείνει σ’ αυτόν τον κόσμο και να μην επιστρέψει στη σύγχρονη Ε.Ε. οι φίλοι του το απειλούν ότι δεν θα ξαναδεί ποτέ μακαρονάδες, καραμέλες, τσιχλόφουσκες και σοκολάτες.

«Ο πόλεμος του παγωτού βατόμουρου» ήταν το πρώτο κόμικς το οποίο τύπωσε και διένειμε η Ευρωπαϊκή Επιτροπή για παιδιά σχολικής ηλικίας. Οταν όμως έφτασαν στην Αγγλία τα πρώτα αντίτυπα, χαρακτηρίστηκαν φτηνή προπαγάνδα που στόχο έχει να παραχαράξει την Ιστορία και να «προσηλυτίσει» ανήλικα παιδιά στις αρχές της Ευρωπαϊκής Ενωσης.

Σχεδόν δύο δεκαετίες αργότερα οι προπαγανδιστικές παρεμβάσεις της Κομισιόν ακόμη και σε Δημοτικά Σχολεία θεωρούνται τόσο διαδεδομένες (και κυρίως θεμιτές) ώστε ελάχιστοι ασχολούνται μαζί τους. Τι γίνεται όμως όταν ολόκληροι λαοί συνειδητοποιούν ότι τα θεσμικά όργανα της Ε.Ε. απειλούν να ανατρέψουν δημοκρατικά εκλεγμένες κυβερνήσεις ή όταν όλο και μεγαλύτερα τμήματα των κατοίκων της ευρωπαϊκής περιφέρειας θεωρούν τη νομισματική ένωση τη βασική αιτία της κρίσης χρέους;

Πριν από ενάμιση χρόνο σύλλογοι εκπαιδευτικών καλούσαν τους Ελληνες δασκάλους να μη συμμετάσχουν στο πρόγραμμα της Αντιπροσωπείας της Ευρωπαϊκής Επιτροπής στην Ελλάδα με τίτλο Teachers4Europe (Δάσκαλοι για την Ευρώπη) το οποίο είχε στόχο «να εμπλουτίζει τις γνώσεις και εμπειρίες των μαθητών της Δ’, Ε’ και Στ’ τάξης Δημοτικού σχετικά με το νέο περιβάλλον και τις ευκαιρίες που παρουσιάζει σε ευρωπαϊκό επίπεδο».

Συνήθως πάντως την εκπαίδευση των νεαρών μαθητών στις αρχές της Ε.Ε. αναλαμβάνει το Ευρωπαϊκό Κέντρο Αριστείας «Jean Monnet», το οποίο προωθεί τις αρχές της Ε.Ε. με προγράμματα και εκπαιδευτικό υλικό σε σχολεία.

Στα Πανεπιστήμια ο αέρας της Ενωμένης Ευρώπης έρχεται συχνότερα μέσω κονδυλίων για ερευνητικά προγράμματα που προσδένουν φοιτητές, και κυρίως τους καθηγητές τους, στις αρχές μιας ένωσης που ασχολείται σχεδόν αποκλειστικά με τη διάσωση τραπεζών και την προώθηση συγκεκριμένων επιχειρηματικών συμφερόντων.

Οι παρεμβάσεις όμως της Ε.Ε. για τον επηρεασμό της κοινής γνώμης δεν περιορίζονται σε σχολεία και Πανεπιστήμια. Οπως αποκαλύφθηκε πριν από τις ευρωεκλογές του 2014, η Ευρωπαϊκή Επιτροπή έχει συστήσει ομάδες που παρακολουθούν τον «δημόσιο διάλογο» κυρίως στα μέσα κοινωνικής δικτύωσης με στόχο να παρεμβαίνουν με επιχειρήματα υπέρ της λειτουργίας της Ε.Ε.

Η Κομισιόν μάλιστα με μυστικό έγγραφό της, το οποίο διέρρευσε σε βρετανικά μέσα ενημέρωσης, ζητούσε να «δοθεί προτεραιότητα σε χώρες όπου σημειώνεται άνοδος του ευρωσκεπτικισμού».

Η υπόθεση αποκτά μεγαλύτερο ενδιαφέρον όταν η προώθηση των θέσεων της Ε.Ε. δεν πραγματοποιείται από τα επίσημα όργανα αλλά από ιδρύματα ερευνών, εταιρείες ή ακόμη και πανεπιστημιακούς που συνδέονται άμεσα ή έμμεσα με «γενναία» ευρωπαϊκά προγράμματα.

Η οργάνωση Corporate Europe Observatory έχει φέρει πολλές φορές στο φως περιπτώσεις πανίσχυρων λόμπι και εταιρειών δημοσίων σχέσεων που προωθούν συγκεκριμένες πολιτικές –είτε γιατί πληρώνονται γι’ αυτό μέσω ειδικών προγραμμάτων είτε γιατί τα συμφέροντά τους ταυτίζονται και εξαρτώνται άμεσα από την πολιτική της Ε.Ε.

Ιδιαίτερο ενδιαφέρον παρουσιάζει, παραδείγματος χάριν, η πρόσφατη έκθεση της Ernst & Young (ΕΥ) με τα καταστροφολογικά σενάρια για το ενδεχόμενο επιστροφής της Ελλάδας σε εθνικό νόμισμα. Η ΕΥ συμμετέχει σε σειρά συμβουλευτικών οργάνων της Κομισιόν (EU VAT Forum, The VAT Expert Group and the Joint Transfer Pricing Forum), ενώ θεωρείται ένα από τα ισχυρότερα λόμπι των Βρυξελλών.

Παρά το γεγονός δηλαδή ότι η εταιρεία είχε διαπραγματευτεί τις φορολογικές υποθέσεις πολυεθνικών όπως η Walt Disney Company, η Koch Industries και η Skype, που ήρθαν στο φως με το τεράστιο φορολογικό σκάνδαλο των Luxleaks, η Ernst & Young παραμένει ένας από τους σημαντικότερους συμβούλους της Ε.Ε. για θέματα φορολόγησης.

Δεν πρόκειται φυσικά ούτε για την πρώτη ούτε για την τελευταία εταιρεία που συνεργάζεται οικονομικά με την Κομισιόν αλλά συνεχίζει να κουνά το δάχτυλο σε όσους τολμούν να αμφισβητήσουν τη λειτουργία της Ε.Ε. και συγκεκριμένα της ευρωζώνης. Ισως γιατί στα 16 χρόνια της ύπαρξής της η ζώνη του ευρώ φρόντισε να εξασφαλίσει τα συμφέροντα μεγάλων τραπεζών, πολυεθνικών αλλά ακόμη και πανεπιστημιακών και ανθρώπων του «πνεύματος» που σήμερα δεν έχουν καμία πρόθεση να δαγκώσουν το χέρι που τους τάιζε όλα αυτά τα χρόνια.

A response to misinformation on Nicaragua: it was a coup, not a ‘massacre’

There is so much misinformation in mainstream corporate media about recent events in Nicaragua that it is a pity that Mary Ellsberg’s article for Pulse has added to it with a seemingly leftish critique. Ellsberg claims that recent articles, including from this website, often “ paint a picture of the crisis in Nicaragua that is dangerously misleading. ” Unfortunately, her own article does just that.
