Cold War 2.0: China frowns on Japanese legislation allowing troop deployment on foreign soil

The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has slammed Japan over security legislation recently approved by a Japanese parliamentary panel allowing troops to be deployed outside the country. 'The approval of the new security bills by Japan’s House of Representatives is an unprecedented move since the Second World War, and may lead to significant changes in Japan’s military and security policies,' spokesman Hua Chunying said in a statement.”

Beijing urged Tokyo 'to respect' the major security concerns of its Asian neighbors and 'refrain from jeopardizing China’s sovereignty and security interests or crippling regional peace and stability.'”

Japan’s parliamentary panel had earlier approved two other security bills allowing the country’s Self Defense Force to take part in military action abroad, even when neither Japanese territory nor its citizens are under threat.”
