The Belgian
newspaper «Libre Belgique» reveals the role of the head of the
Liberal group in the European Parliament Guy Verhofstadt and his
relationship with companies involved with privatizations in Greece.
Let us
remind that Guy Verhofstadt spoke extensively and he was particularly
critical on the Greek PM Alexis Tsipras in the euro-parliament,
during his speech before the end of the recent negotiations between
Greece and the creditors. Verhofstadt expressed openly his support to
the neoliberal Greek party River,
a banking-media establishment creation. Verhofstadt is a strong
supporter of neoliberalism and of a federal Europe.
The former
Belgian Prime Minister, strongly criticized Alexis Tsipras during his
speech in the eu parliament and invited him to directly proceed in
more reforms and privatizations.
«Libre
Belgique» questions whether Verhofstadt's worry about the fate of
Greece is sincere. In an article in the weekend edition and in
response to a recent report, it refers to MEPs cases for whom are
raised doubts whether their parliamentary action advances the common
good, or, personal interests.
Guy
Verhofstadt appears to be connected with private companies that
expect to grab a large portion in the Greek energy market through
privatizations. According to «Libre Belgique» these companies are
Exmar και Sofina in which Verhofstadt is CEO with a handsomely
reward.

Remember,
Verhofstadt told Tsipras to rush to proceed in “reforms”. Behind
the hypocritical call for transparency, which is only a smoke screen,
the only thing the neoliberals mean, is privatizations for pennies,
thus sell off public property. That's all they care about, they don't
care about the actual recovery of the Greek economy.

Verhofstadt, from the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for
Europe Party, he appeared as the purest representative of the
neoliberal Right, as he supported with passion the European
completion and unified market by purely economic terms in favor of
the big companies. In essence, he defended monopolies and the
transatlantic trade agreement between the EU and US. Like Juncker,
he admitted that, no one can avoid lobbyists! He
insisted too on fiscal discipline and he said that the political
parties in Greece were supported by the banks because they were
under the Greek Public control. It seems that he doesn't know very
well the Greek situation as even the Bank of Greece is not under
the Greek Public control. Unless that he made such a shallow
statement in order to hide the fact that private banks and local
big businesses in Greece were doing "business" with the
Greek political class of the past decades, in order to blame the
"bad" Greek Public, which is responsible for all this
situation in Greece, a position promoted by the neoliberal
propaganda since the beginning of the current crisis.

Michalis Papadopoulos, Deputy Transport Minister [of the previous
Samaras administration] said among other things:
“The
troika has certain obsessions that are groundless and are part of
the way of thinking created by its technical teams,”
he told Athens 984 radio station. “They
are like a corner shop, where everyone who passes leaves something
and then the troika picks up on it and says: “Ah, yes! You have
to do this as well”.”
“There
are institutional bodies, Greek and foreign, who pass by the
troika and say: “Do this as well”,”
said the deputy minister. “The troika
has adopted a way of thinking that involves them serving
particular interests.”

Does anyone truly believe that
these puppets in power, do care about the improvement of lives of
millions of Europeans? I think we all know the answer. They don't.
The only thing they care about is to protect the interests of
their masters, maintain their own privileges.
