Όργιο ψεύτικων ειδήσεων για το Χαλέπι

Σαν να μην έφταναν οι αγριότητες του συριακού καθεστώτος στη Συρία τα δυτικά μέσα ενημέρωσης, καθοδηγούμενα συχνά από υπουργεία και μυστικές υπηρεσίες, επιδίδονται σε ένα όργιο παραπληροφόρησης.

Σε αρκετές περιπτώσεις αμερικανικά μέσα ενημέρωσης παρουσιάζουν ως βασικές τους πηγές ομάδες ακραίων ισλαμιστών που συνεργάζονται ή αποτελούσαν τμήματα της Αλ Καίντα.

Από χτες κάνει το γύρο του διαδικτύου η πληροφορία ότι 20 γυναίκες στο Χαλέπι αυτοκτόνησαν προκειμένου να μην τις βιάσουν Σύροι στρατιώτες.

Η πληροφορία βασίζεται σε μια μόνο πηγή που τυχαίνει να είναι ο Abdullah Othman, επικεφαλής του Συμβουλίου του Μετώπου του Λεβάντε – ομπρέλα οργανώσεων που μάχονται το συριακό στρατό και συγκεντρώνουν αρκετά εξτρεμιστικά στοιχεία που χρηματοδοτούνταν από τη Σαουδική Αραβία και το Κατάρ υπό την εποπτεία των ΗΠΑ.

Το μέτωπο διαμορφώθηκε στην τελική του μορφή από ένα οπλαρχηγό της οργάνωσης Ahrar al-Sham που συνεργαζόταν με την Αλ Κάιντα.

Παρόλα αυτά η συγκεκριμένη φήμη έφτασε τελικά να μεταδοθεί ακόμη και από τους New York Times.

Δεκάδες ήταν και τα περιστατικά με παλιές φωτογραφίες από θύματα του Ισλαμικού Κράτους που παρουσιάζονται από χτες σαν να σκοτώθηκαν από το συριακό στρατό.

Χαρακτηριστικότερο όλων πάντως ήταν το παράδειγμα με τη φωτογραφία ενός κοριτσιού που υποτίθεται τρέχει να κρυφτεί από τις επιθέσεις των συριακών δυνάμεων. Στην πραγματικότητα η φωτογραφία προέρχεται από video clip της τραγουδίστριας Hiba Tawaji από το Λίβανο.

Ο συγγραφέας και αναλυτής Μάξ Μπλούμενθαλ κατηγόρησε επίσης το BBC ότι χρησιμοποιεί μόνο αντικυβερνητικές πηγές για να περιγράψει την κατάσταση σημειώνοντας ότι μια εξ αυτών (υποθέτουμε αναφέρεται στην οργάνωση White Helmets) χρηματοδοτείται από την αμερικανική κυβέρνηση.

Τέλος τα περισσότερα δυτικά μέσα ενημέρωσης ανέφεραν ως γεγονός ότι ο συριακός στρατός εκτέλεσε εν ψυχρώ 82 αμάχους – πληροφορία την οποία μετέφερε ο Ύπατος Αρμοστής του ΟΗΕ για τα ανθρώπινα δικαιώματα, σημειώνοντας όμως ότι δεν μπορεί να επιβεβαιωθεί και πως εύχεται να μην είναι αληθινή.

Θα πρέπει φυσικά να σημειωθεί ότι στοιχεία που πρόσκεινται στο αιμοσταγές καθεστώς του Άσαντ εκμεταλλεύονται αυτά τα περιστατικά παραπληροφόρησης για να υποστηρίζουν ότι όλες οι πληροφορίες που μεταδίδονται εναντίον των καθεστωτικών δυνάμεων είναι ψευδείς.

Όπως εξηγούσε πάντως σε μια εξαιρετική ανάλυσή του ο Ρόμπερτ Φισκ, η εικόνα που έχουμε για την κατάσταση θα αλλάζει συνεχώς τις επόμενες ημέρες και εβδομάδες καθώς θα φτάνουν πληροφορίες και για τα εγκλήματα των ανταρτών που έχουν τη στήριξη δυτικών κυβερνήσεων.

A response to misinformation on Nicaragua: it was a coup, not a ‘massacre’

There is so much misinformation in mainstream corporate media about recent events in Nicaragua that it is a pity that Mary Ellsberg’s article for Pulse has added to it with a seemingly leftish critique.
