Russia to supply Cuba with modern weapons

The Russian Defense Minister Serguei Shoigu said Moscow will renew with modern weapons the military equipment of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Cuba.

"We are ready to continue cooperation with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Cuba to equip them with modern weapons and military equipment" said Shoigu at RIA Novosti agency during a meeting with Cuban Vice President Ricardo Cabrisas.

Shoigu described Cuba as a "symbol of freedom and independence of Latin America" and noted that Russian-Cuban cooperation received a major boost during the last visit of president Vladimir Putin to Havana.

"All decisions taken during this visit are monitored and applied in our country", and continued, "We also enjoy rich experience of Cuban personnel training in our [Russian] various education establishments" said Mr. Shoigu.
