Ο Ύπατος Αρμοστής του ΟΗΕ προειδοποιεί για την κρίσιμη συσσώρευση προσφύγων στην Ελλάδα

Το κλείσιμο των συνόρων στα Βαλκάνια μπορεί να προκαλέσει τεράστια και ενδεχομένως κρίσιμης σημασίας συσσώρευση προσφύγων στην Ελλάδα, προειδοποίησε ο Ύπατος Αρμοστής του ΟΗΕ για τους Πρόσφυγες Filippo Grandi.

Ο κ. Grandi πέρασε μεγάλο μέρος της Τετάρτης (24 Φεβρουαρίου) στην Αθήνα σε συναντήσεις με τον Πρωθυπουργό Αλέξη Τσίπρα και με αρκετούς υπουργούς.

Η ενδεχόμενη συσσώρευση, είπε ο κ. Grandi, αποτέλεσε ένα από τα βασικότερα θέματα της συζήτησης. Ο Ύπατος Αρμοστής του ΟΗΕ για τους Πρόσφυγες άσκησε κριτική για μια ακόμα φορά για το κλείσιμο των συνόρων και την αδυναμία των ευρωπαϊκών χωρών να αντιμετωπίσουν την προσφυγική κρίση με γενναιοδωρία και ενότητα.

Δήλωσε επίσης ότι η Ύπατη Αρμοστεία του ΟΗΕ για τους Πρόσφυγες (Ύ.Α.) και οι ελληνικές αρχές θα πρέπει να αρχίσουν να καταρτίζουν σχέδιο για την περίπτωση που περισσότερες από μερικές χιλιάδες άνθρωποι εγκλωβιστούν στην Ελλάδα.

«Ελπίζω ότι δεν θα υπάρχει τεράστιος αριθμός προσφύγων», είπε ο Grandi. «Αλλά θα είναι διαχειρίσιμο εάν υπάρξει έγκαιρη και άμεση συνεργασία με την κυβέρνηση. Και είμαστε έτοιμοι γι’ αυτό. Αυτό ήταν και το μήνυμά μου προς τον Πρωθυπουργό και τους υπουργούς του.»

«Όμως χρειάζεται πραγματικά να καταβάλλουμε κάθε προσπάθεια για να βρούμε εναλλακτικές λύσεις, να δουλέψουμε πάνω στο θέμα των περιοριστικών μέτρων, της μετεγκατάστασης και ιδίως στο θέμα της μαζικής επανεγκατάστασης (resettlement) από τις χώρες της Μέσης Ανατολής.»

Ανέφερε επίσης ότι την Πέμπτη (25 Φεβρουαρίου) θα επισκεπτόταν τις Βρυξέλλες στη συνεδρίαση του Συμβουλίου Δικαιοσύνης και Εσωτερικών Υποθέσεων για να μεταφέρει το μήνυμα ότι η Ελλάδα, η οποία αντιμετωπίζει μεγάλες οικονομικές δυσκολίες, θα χρειαστεί αξιοσημείωτη επιπρόσθετη στήριξη καθώς και άμεση υλοποίηση του προγράμματος μετεγκατάστασης προκειμένου να αντιμετωπιστεί η συμφόρηση των προσφύγων.

Κατά τη διάρκεια της συναντήσεών του, η συσσώρευση άρχισε να γίνεται εμφανής και στους δρόμους.

Στην πλατεία Βικτωρίας στο κέντρο της Αθήνας, εκατοντάδες άνθρωποι, ανάμεσά τους και πολλοί Αφγανοί πρόσφυγες, τριγύριζαν ή κάθονταν πάνω σε κουβέρτες που είχε παράσχει η Υ.Α. Αρκετοί από τους ανθρώπους αυτούς είχαν ταξιδέψει προς τα βόρεια σύνορα Ελλάδας-ΠΓΔΜ και είχαν σταλεί πίσω από την αστυνομία.

Ο Sayed ήταν ένας από αυτούς. Μαζί με την οικογένειά του και τα τρία μικρά τους παιδιά έφτασαν στην Ελλάδα την περασμένη εβδομάδα και πήγαν στα βόρεια σύνορα. Μαζί με άλλους Αφγανούς συνωστίστηκαν σε έναν αυτοσχέδιο καταυλισμό και κρατήθηκαν εκεί. Μόνο στους Σύρους και τους Ιρακινούς που είχαν διαβατήρια επιτρεπόταν να περάσουν.

Ο Sayed, 30 ετών, βοήθησε να συνταχθεί μια επιστολή διαμαρτυρίας η οποία όμως δεν έγινε δεκτή. Έβαλαν όλους τους Αφγανούς σε λεωφορεία για να τους επιστρέψουν στην Αθήνα και τους άφησαν στην πλατεία τα μεσάνυχτα. Ο ίδιος μαζί με άλλους άνδρες κάθονταν άγρυπνοι κατά τη διάρκεια της νύχτας για να φυλάσσουν τις οικογένειές τους.

«Πήραμε τη ζωή μας στα χέρια μας», είπε, προσθέτοντας «Απαιτούμε να μην επιστρέψουμε πίσω (στο Αφγανιστάν) γιατί διατρέχουμε κίνδυνο εκεί. Σας παρακαλούμε ανοίξτε τα σύνορα για εμάς, ώστε να μπορέσουμε να προχωρήσουμε. Ήρθαμε εδώ για να σώσουμε τη ζωή μας.»

Το μέγεθος της ενδεχόμενης κρίσης ήταν εμφανές και στις Ολυμπιακές εγκαταστάσεις του Ελληνικού. Εκατοντάδες Αφγανοί που μόλις είχαν φτάσει με πλοίο από τα νησιά του Αιγαίου σχημάτιζαν ουρές για να εισέλθουν. Πολλοί γνώριζαν ότι τα βόρεια σύνορα ήταν κλειστά γι’ αυτούς αλλά κανείς δεν ήξερε τι θα έκανε.

Στον επάνω όροφο, σε μια γωνία καθόταν η Massoume. Έκλαιγε. Είναι χήρα από το Αφγανιστάν που κατάφερε να έρθει στην Ελλάδα μαζί με τους δυο γιους της 13 και 20 ετών. Ο μεγαλύτερος γιος χρειάζεται ιατρική περίθαλψη. Σχεδίαζε να επανενωθεί με την παντρεμένη κόρη της στη Γερμανία, όμως τώρα δε μπορεί.

«Είμαι τόσο μόνη εδώ, νιώθω ότι βρίσκομαι σε μια απελπιστική κατάσταση», είπε. «Τρέμω μέρα και νύχτα. Εάν δεν ανοίξουν τα σύνορα δε ξέρω τι θα συμβεί σε μένα και τα παιδιά μου".

Αυτές είναι κάποιες εξατομικευμένες συνέπειες των κλειστών συνόρων. Ο κ. Grandi προειδοποίησε ότι θα υπάρξουν και ευρύτερες συνέπειες, ότι η Ευρώπη θα κάνει ένα βήμα πίσω, θα χάσει το όραμά της, τις αξίες της και θα αποδυναμώσει την παγκόσμια επιρροή της.

«Η απάντησή μας πρέπει να είναι συνεργασία, όχι κλείσιμο των συνόρων», κατέληξε.

A response to misinformation on Nicaragua: it was a coup, not a ‘massacre’
