Να τους πνίξω κύριε καθηγητά;

Το τελευταίο διάστημα παρατηρείται μια προσπάθεια (λίγων ευτυχώς) πανεπιστημιακών να δικαιολογήσουν αποφάσεις και συμπεριφορές της Ευρώπης απέναντι στους πρόσφυγες, οι οποίες παραπέμπουν στις πιο σκοτεινές εποχές του 20ου αιώνα.

Ο Μιχάλης Μαθιουλάκης, καθηγητής χρηματοοικονομικών στην ΕΕΔΕ, που πρόσκειται κατά δήλωσή του στο Ποτάμι, επιχείρησε να δικαιολογήσει την απόφαση της Δανίας να κατάσχει τα περιουσιακά στοιχεία των προσφύγων. Ανάμεσα σε άλλα επιχειρήματα αναφέρει ότι ανάλογες ρυθμίσεις υπάρχουν και για τους Δανούς πολίτες «που ζητούν/δικαιούνται βοήθεια από το κράτος τους». Επίσης ότι αν οι πρόσφυγες δεν θέλουν κρατική βοήθεια μπορούν να αρνηθούν την κατάσχεση. Το κείμενο συγκέντρωσε σε λίγα 24ωρα τουλάχιστον 1.100 like στο facebook από ανθρώπους που προφανώς επικροτούσαν την απόφαση της Δανίας, παρά το γεγονός ότι έχει χαρακτηριστεί «χιτλερική» ακόμη και από σχολιαστές κορυφαίων μέσω ενημέρωσης στην Ευρώπη.

Η Ύπατη Αρμοστεία του ΟΗΕ για τους πρόσφυγες έχει καταρρίψει από καιρό τη βάση των σχετικών επιχειρημάτων όταν καλούσε την κυβέρνηση της Δανίας να μην προχωρήσει τις συγκεκριμένες νομοθετικές ρυθμίσεις που παραβιάζουν, μεταξύ άλλων, τη συνθήκη της Γενεύης, την Ευρωπαϊκή Σύμβαση Ανθρωπίνων Δικαιωμάτων και σειρά οδηγιών της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης.

Μεταξύ άλλων η UNHCR καταδικάζει τα προσκόμματα που δημιουργεί η Δανία στην επανένωση οικογενειών προσφύγων και στην απόκτηση άδειας μόνιμης κατοικίας. Για το ζήτημα των κατασχέσεων, αναφέρει ότι προσβάλει την αξιοπρέπεια των προσφύγων και το δικαίωμά περιουσίας και προστασίας προσωπικών δεδομένων. Αφήνοντας κατά μέρος τα νομικά επιχειρήματα η UNHCR σημειώνει ότι με αυτή την πρακτική η Δανία αφαιρεί από τους κατατρεγμένους πρόσφυγες τα μοναδικά υπάρχοντα που κατάφεραν να πάρουν μαζί τους καθώς επιχειρούσαν να σώσουν τη ζωή τους και τα μέλη της οικογένειάς τους.

Η ευκολία με την οποία ορισμένοι είναι έτοιμοι να υπερασπιστούν χιτλερικού τύπου αποφάσεις, με το σκεπτικό ότι αφού τις λαμβάνουν οι Ευρωπαίοι θα έχουν δίκιο, αποτελεί ίσως την μεγαλύτερη απειλή που γνωρίζει σήμερα ο ευρωπαϊκός πολιτισμός αλλά ακόμη και η αστική δημοκρατία – την οποία σε τόσο υψηλή υπόληψη έχουν. Προκειμένου να υποστηρίξουν τις αποφάσεις της ΕΕ δεν έχουν κανένα πρόβλημα να αμφισβητήσουν τα ιερά και τα όσια αυτής της αστικής δημοκρατίας, από τις συμβάσεις του ΟΗΕ μέχρι τις αποφάσεις της ίδιας τη ΕΕ για τα ανθρώπινα δικαιώματα.

Την ίδια ώρα, άλλοι καθηγητές, όπως ο υπεραπιστής των Ταγμάτων Ασφαλείας Στάθης Καλύβας, επιχειρούν να τεκμηριώσουν την πολιτισμική ανωτερότητα της Ευρώπης έναντι άλλων λαών με το απλουστευτικό επιχείρημα ότι αν η Ευρώπη δεν είναι καλή γιατί όλοι οι πρόσφυγες θέλουν να έρθουν εδώ και δεν πάνε, όπως χαρακτηριστικά έγραψε, στη Κίνα;

Και μόνο το γεγονός πως δεν κατανοεί ότι η απόσταση των 6.930 χιλιομέτρων που χωρίζει τη Δαμασκό από το Πεκίνο (σε ευθεία γραμμή) είναι ελαφρώς μεγαλύτερη από τα 2.500 χιλιόμετρα (οδικού δικτύου) από την Αθήνα, μάλλον επιβεβαιώνει γιατί ο Καλύβας γίνεται τόσο συχνά περίγελος σοβαρών πανεπιστημιακών όπως ο Χάγκεν Φλάισερ. Παρόλα αυτά και σε αυτή την περίπτωση εκατοντάδες χρήστες του twitter έσπευσαν να υποστηρίξουν τις θεωρίες του υμνητή των Ελλήνων γερμανοτσολιάδων.

Η πραγματική απάντηση, όμως, είναι ότι οι πρόσφυγες, σε γενικές γραμμές ΔΕΝ έρχονται στην Ευρώπη. Πάνω από το 80% των Σύρων προσφύγων έμεινε σε χώρες της Μέσης Ανατολής. Τα στοιχεία της Διεθνούς Αμνηστίας και άλλων διεθνών οργανισμών και οργανώσεων αποδεικνύουν ότι ενώ η ΕΕ δηλώνει αδυναμία να διαχειριστεί ένα εκατομμύριο πρόσφυγες, μόνο ο Λίβανος με πληθυσμό 4.5 εκατομμυρίων κατοίκων έχει ήδη δεχθεί 1.2 εκατομμύριο – δηλαδή περίπου το 1/4 του πληθυσμού του.

Στο βάθος της σκέψης τους οι πανεπιστημιακοί που αναρωτιούνται γιατί οι πρόσφυγες θέλουν να έρθουν στην Ευρώπη (και δεν κάθονται να τους σφάξουν στη χώρα τους) καταφεύγουν σε θεωρίες περί ανωτερότητας της “ευρωπαϊκής φυλής” που κυριαρχούσαν στα αποικιοκρατικά καθεστώτα του 19ου αιώνα και στα φασιστικά και ναζιστικά του 20ου.

Το πραγματικό τους πρόβλημα είναι ότι για να προωθήσουν τις απόψεις τους πρέπει να αμφισβητήσουν τα κεκτημένα του ίδιου του ευρωπαϊκού πολιτισμού. Η ΕΕ άλλωστε όπως έχουμε γράψει πολλές φορές δεν είχε και δεν θα αποκτήσει ποτέ οποιαδήποτε σχέση με αυτό τον πολιτισμό. Η νέα Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση εκφράζεται πλέον από τα πρωτοσέλιδα της Daily Mail, που όταν δεν συγκρίνουν τους πρόσφυγες με ποντίκια απαιτούν να απαγορευτεί η είσοδος 3.000 παιδιών στη Βρετανία – το ίδιο αίτημα που παρουσίαζαν αγγλοσαξωνικές εφημερίδες και το 1939 όταν Εβραίοι πρόσφυγες ζητούσαν μάταια καταφύγιο για να γλιτώσουν από τη ναζιστική θηριωδία.

Οι άνθρωποι που ζητούν κλειστά σύνορα για τους πρόσφυγες είναι οι ίδιοι που ζητούν και κλειστά θέατρα και απαγόρευση κυκλοφορίας βιβλίων. Είναι ένα συνονθύλευμα νεοοναζιστών και νεοφιλελεύθερων που όταν δεν φωνάζουν για τις «γαμημένες αλβανικές κωλοτρυπίδες» απλώς αλαλάζουν στα μέσα κοινωνικής δικτύωσης περιφέροντας την άγνοια και την έπαρσή τους. Οι δευτεροι της παρεας εντάσσονται βέβαια στο διόλου αμελητέο 37% που ψήφισε ΝΑΙ στο δημοψήφισμα, αλλά δυστυχώς για αυτούς είναι και πάλι μειοψηφία.
