Dozens of
migrants have been abused since December 25 trying to enter the
Spanish city of Ceuta, media reported.
Six migrants
have been killed, three drowned and some 19 others hospitalized
trying to enter the Spanish territory by sea, according to The Local,
citing the Moroccan Association for the Integration of Immigrants.
The Spanish
territories of Ceuta and Melilla, which are on North Africa's
Mediterranean coast, are occasionally used by migrants as a launch
pad to Europe.
Europe is
currently struggling with the greatest refugee crisis since the end
of the World War II.
The UNHCR
and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) announced in a
joint statement the number of migrants who crossed into Europe by
both land and sea has reached the one million mark last week.
