Οταν η επανάσταση του Μπέρνι Σάντερς αυτονομείται

O ίδιος ο Μπέρνι Σάντερς έκανε ό,τι μπορούσε – ακόμη κι ό,τι δεν πίστευε πως θα μπορούσε – στο συνέδριο των Δημοκρατικών για να στηρίξει τη Χίλαρι Κλιντον, η οποία και εξασφάλισε τελικά και επίσημα το χρίσμα του Δημοκρατικού Κόμματος για τις προεδρικές εκλογές στις ΗΠΑ.

Τη χαρακτήρισε «συνάδελφο στρατιώτη», είπε ότι «η Χίλαρι ΠΡΕΠΕΙ να είναι η επόμενη πρόεδρος των Ηνωμένων Πολιτειών», επικρότησε την επιλογή της να ορίσει ως αντιπρόεδρό της τον κεντρογενή Τιμ Κέιν και επέσεισε το φάντασμα του Ντόναλντ Τραμπ για να πείσει τους υποστηρικτές του να την ψηφίσουν:

«Εάν δεν έχετε αντιληφθεί», είπε, «πόσο κρίσιμες είναι αυτές οι εκλογές, καθήστε μια στιγμή να σκεφτείτε ποιούς δικαστές μπορει να τοποθετήσει στο Ανώτατο Δικαστήριο ο Ντόναλντ Τραμπ. Και τί μπορεί να σημαίνει αυτό για τις πολιτικές ελευθερίες, τα δικαιώματα της ισότητας και για το μέλλον της χώρας μας».

«Μπέρνι ή ρήξη»

O,τι κι εάν είπε όμως δεν ήταν αρκετό για να κάνει τους υποστηρικτές του να εγκαταλείψουν το όραμα τς μεγάλης πολιτικής επανάστασης, να ανακόψει τα γιουχαίσματά τους μέσα στο συνεδριακό κέντρο όταν ο ίδιος αναφερόταν στο όνομα της Χίλαρι, να αποτρέψει τις διαδηλώσεις τους στους δρόμους της Φιλαδέλφεια και να σβήσει το σύνθημα «Μπέρνι ή ρήξη».

«Οχι ψήφο στη Χίλαρι», ήταν το κεντρικό σύνθημα των ριζοσπαστικών «Σαντερίστας» που επιβεβαίωσαν το κλίμα του απόλυτου διχασμού στην αυλαία κιόλας του συνεδρίου των Δημοκρατικών.

Κατά τους New York Times ήταν το κλίμα που δημιούργησε ο ίδιος ο Μπέρνι Σαντερς και το οποίο τώρα δεν μπορεί ουτε να ελέγξει, ούτε να ανακόψει.

Η πυρκαγιά ενός «φλογερού κινήματος»

«Οι επαναστάσεις σπανίως τελιώνουν... ησύχως», έγραψε η αμερικανική εφημερίδα, υποστηρίζοντας ότι ο Μπέρνι Σάντερς όφειλε να το γνωρίζει αυτό όταν υπερηφανευόταν ότι δημιούργησε ένα «φλογερό κίνημα». Για να προσθέσει ότι στην αυλαία του συνεδρίου των Δημοκρατικών ο Σάντερς ανακάλυψε ότι «έχει χάσει τον έλεγχο της πυρκαγιάς που μπορεί να φέρει αυτό το κίνημα».

Για «απώλεια ελέγχου» κάνει λόγο και το BBC, αυτή όμως μπορεί και να είναι απλώς η μισή αλήθεια. Την άλλη μισή ίσως την αποτυπώνει μία από τις εκατοντάδες υποστηρικτές του Σάντερς που ταξίδεψε στη Φιλαδέλφεια από την Καλιφόρνια, η Λόρενς Στάινερ, για να διαδηλώσει το «όχι» της στη Χίλαρι Κλιντον.

«Η πολιτική επανάσταση του Μπέρνι Σάντερς», δήλωσε επισης στο BBC, «δεν ανήκει και δεν εξαρτάται ούτε από τον ίδιο τον Μπέρνι Σάντερς, ούτε από κανένα μεμονωμένο πρόσωπο. Υπάρχουν εκατομμύρια άνθρωποι εκεί έξω που λένε «φτάνει πια, αυτή η χώρα ανήκει σε όλους μας».

Και η απόλυτη αλήθεια, είναι πως αυτή η, άγνωστη μέχρι σήμερα, αριστερή Αμερική αισθάνεται πως δεν έχει καμία σχέση με την Χίλαρι Κλίντον και το – πολιτικό, οικονομικό και επιχειρηματικό - σύστημα που εκείνη εκπροσωπεί. Στην πραγματικότητα, είναι βαθά καχύποπτη απέναντί της, θεωρεί ότι ακόμη κι εάν εκλεγεί Πρόεδρος θα απογοητεύσει και θα προδώσει τα ιδανικά της εκστρατείας Σάντερς – τις αξίες της δικαιοσύνης, της δημοκρατίας και της ισότιμης κατανομής της αμερικανικής ευημερίας.

Η διαρροή των e-mails

Κι είναι επίσης αλήθεια ότι αυτή η καχυποψία δικαιώθηκε από το ίδιο το Δημοκρατικο Κόμμα. Η διαρροή των περίφημων e-mails της Εθνικής Επιτροπής του Δημοκρατικού Κόμματος στα wikileaks απλώς επιβεβαίωσε εκείνο που όλοι υποπτεύονταν: Οτι εξ αρχής, η Εθνική Επιτροπή και η ηγεσία των Δημοκρατικών κόντρα σε κάθε αρχή ουδετερότητας, έκανε τα πάντα για να κερδίσει τις προκριματικές εκλογές η Χίλαρι Κλίντον σε βάρος του Μπέρνι Σάντερς.

«Ο Σάντερς πήγε στο Δημοκρατικό Κόμμα για να φέρει, για πρώτη φορά την ουσιαστική αλλαγή. Κι εκείνοι απλώς τον κοροιδεψαν κι έπαιξαν μαζί του», λέει έτερος υποστηρικτής του γερουσιαστή του Βερμόντ, ο Aλεκ Μοντέλο που πήγε από το Τέξας στην Φιλαδέλφεια επίσης για να αποκηρύξει το «σύστημα Κλίντον».

Η δημόσια συγνώμη του Δημοκρατικού Κόμματος προς τον Σάντερς μετά τη διαρροή ελάχιστα φαίνεται να αλλάζει αυτή την άποψη. Και η έτερη – δημοσκοπική και στατιστική αυτή τη φορά – αλήθεια, λέει ότι ο μόνος παράγοντας που ίσως επιφέρει την αλλαγή είναι ο φόβος του Τραμπ.

H ψήφος του φόβου

Δημοσκόπηση του CNN που δημοσιεύθηκε ταυτόχρονα με το εν εξελίξει, θυελώδες συνέδριο των Δημοκρατικών έδειξε προβάδισμα του Τραμπ με 48% έναντι 45%. Κατά την ίδια όμως, όπως και με βάση τις περισσότερες άλλες δημοσκοπήσεις, η πλειοψηφία των υποστηρικτών του Σάντερς θα ψηφίσει στο τέλος «ο,τιδήποτε άλλο εκτός από τον Τραμπ» - δηλαδή, τη Χίλαρι.

Ακόμη κι εάν συμβεί αυτό όμως θα είναι η ψήφος του φόβου και όχι η ψήφος της ελπίδας. Ισως διότι, όπως υπενθυμίζει και το BBC επικαλούμενο τον γάλλο δημοσιογράφο Ζακ Μαλέ ντ Παν, «οι προσωπικές επαναστάσεις έχουν την τάση να καταβροχθίζουν τα παιδιά τους...»
